The past couple of weeks have been hurried and harried at our house. Between two kids on traveling soccer teams, talent shows, Lithuanian school, house hunting and everyday responsibilities, our quality time together has been limited. Yesterday we had the chance to chill out and enjoy some pizza and a movie.
After an interesting field trip with Gaigai's Brownie troop to the community bank, we came home and watched Tangled and ate some delicious deep dish pizza. The movie was cute and made the kids laugh - nothing sweeter than the sound of kids' laughter. We topped off the wonderful evening with some chocolate ice cream - only thing missing was Kovas.
Today's plan - quick run on the treadmill, a little yoga with the kids (try the calming poses below), paint Easter eggs, make cake for Munchkin's 4th birthday, and wait for Kovas to come home - and happily not much else :).
I'm almost finished reading Simplicity Parenting (review to come), which stresses simplifying environment, routines and schedules. The author claims that most children regardless of their age can reset their emotional clock given two or three quiet days - with no school today and a break from all extra activities this weekend, hopefully by the end of the weekend we'll have broken the "soul fever."
