Midweek Motivation - Tenacity

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. –Amelia Earhart

With our spring-like thaw, making the decision to get out the door is easy. :)

2014 ZOOMA Chicago Ambassador

Woohoo!!  I'm so excited to announce that I'm a 2014 ZOOMA Chicago Ambassador!  I was an ambassador and ran ZOOMA Chicago last year and ZOOMA Great Lakes the year before and loved it!!  From training runs to recovery yoga, ZOOMA's got it covered.  Grab some girlfriends and make it a weekend!

The ZOOMA Chicago 10k and half marathon will be on Saturday, August 9.

Join us for a full weekend of serious racing and serious celebration – including a sponsored mocktail party, recovery yoga, and fun times with running friends.

The ZOOMA Chicago half marathon and 10K courses are both flat, scenic, and out-and-back starting and finishing at The Park at Lakeshore East. The course is out and back running south on the Lakefront Trail with inspiring views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.  After the race, its time to celebrate with live music, wine, recovery yoga, massage, shopping, and lots of girls’ weekend energy.

Zero With a Chance of Windchill

My kids' school has a rule of thumb, if it's above zero with windchill, the children go out for recess.  I figure if the kids can do it, so can I. :)  If it's above zero with windchill, I head out for my run.  The past couple of weeks though my running has been sporadic due to the polar vortexes (vortices?) the midwest is experiencing.  Not only is it too cold (for me), but the kiddos have been home from school also which makes it even harder to get out for my run.  What makes it even more of a bummer is that our treadmill conked out last spring and we don't currently belong to a gym…

Funny how excited we get, especially me, when the outside temp is zero or above.  I have really enjoyed strapping on my yaktrax and crunching through the snow.  Dressed appropriately only my nose, cheeks and toes get a little cold sometimes - time to get some thicker taller socks and a face mask.

Getting out for that run makes the day so much better :)

How cold is too cold to run outside?
