Tuesday Training - Week 3

Here's how this week's Nike/Bank of America Marathon training went in preparation for the ZOOMA Chicago half and North Face Endurance Challenge Marathon:

Monday:  planned 4, ran 3
Wednesday: ran 4 as planned
Friday: planned 2, ran 3 to make up for Monday
Saturday:  planned and ran 6

With summer, family and work, balance and flexibility in training is key for me!

Tuesday Training - Week One

Week one of the Nike Marathon Training Plan done!  As in previous years, I am being flexible with my training -- if I miss a day, I'm not stressing.  With 4 kids and all of our activities, balance is key.  I managed to squeeze in all but one of the runs and did some squats and plank on the weight training days.

Things I'm working on this week:  increasing mileage and coming up with a more serious weight training program.

Are you following a training plan?  If so, which one?

Tuesday Training - Marathon Training Plan

Kovas and I will be running the North Face Endurance Challenge Marathon in Madison.  I'm a little nervous - it will be my first and a hilly trail one at that.  So we're 20 weeks out - time to get serious about training!  I have been running consistently all winter but only shorter runs.  In hopes of running some of our long runs together, I will be using the same plan, Nike/Bank of America plan as Kovas.

Favorite Things Friday

Here are some of my favorite things lately...

Darn Tough wool running socks
All weather Darn Tough wool running socks and my new Altras
Darn Tough Vermont wool running socks

I was excited to receive two pairs of merino wool running socks from Darn Tough early this spring.  Even with the best running shoes with the best fit, without good socks, you're still likely to have problems.  Darn Tough wool socks are super comfortable with a great fit and feel and no rubbing or slipping.  They have been great at keeping my toes warm through the wet and cold.

And they're guaranteed for life...no strings attached.

Headsweats Supervisor

An oldie, but goodie - for rain or shine, this Headsweats Supervisor is my go to visor for running.  The Coolmax® fabric terry headband is quick drying and keeps the perspiration out of my eyes, brim protects eyes (and glasses) from rain and sun, comfortable elastic band keeps the visor in place, add ultra-light, and there's no wonder why this visor has been in my running gear line-up for years - and still looks like new.

CamelBak Relay Water Filtration Pitcher

Our family drinks a lot of water, and I'm picky about the taste and obviously quality of water that we drink.  That's why I love the Camelbak Relay Water Filtration Pitcher.  It uses a unique Double Filter Technology that removes chlorine, taste, and odors twice - as you fill and again as you pour.  I also love the cool blue color and the space saving 10 cup design of the the Camelbak Relay pitcher.  It's also BPA free and dishwasher safe - health and ease are key for our family:)
